Born Northrigg, Armadale.

Alex was a Reservist with the Cameron Highlanders. His Regimental name Paterson, he having slipped out of the Militia into the Regulars in 1901.

L/Cpl Kirk completed 17 years service. He arrived in France on the 13^th September 1914, whilst he was in France he was wounded and took a considerable time to recover, he then later in Salonica.
